Meet Simone
Create your own visual style... let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.”Orson Wells
This quote sums up my style aesthetic and the way I choose to dress my clients. I believe that a woman should be true to her fashion sensibilities, daring yet classic. Every day that we are blessed to open our eyes and move our limbs is day where one has the opportunity to draw their own fashion backdrop and in turn re-write their history or shape their present. The question “who shall I be today” is not only a transformative one, but I wholeheartedly believe should be asked regularly. Investing in yourself can create a total changeover, can kick you out of a slump or help you reach to the next level. The right skirt, blouse or haircut can and will change your life!
I shared this with Simone at our first meeting at a local Second Cup. She came dressed in slouchy dress pants, polyester blouse and a too large jacket. I rose to greet her and she avoided eye contact and seemed uncomfortable. I chose to dress comfortably myself, a simple dress as not to intimidate or overwhelm her. As we sipped our lattes I soon discovered what a gem I had in my first client.
Simone is a newlywed who has recently lost over 70 pounds. She lives an active life which includes singing, Pilate's, gardening and frequent stops to Second Cup. Simone is having difficulty merging her new body with the clothes in her closet. She says ”I often reach for clothes that no longer fit me and they’re baggy and unstructured and I fear that they make me larger than I really am”. I believe that Simone is still hiding in her “fat clothes” for various reasons but the main one is her fear of not being able to maintain the weight loss. She also feels protected in wearing looser fighting clothes that do not fit her now toned body. I hope to introduce Simone to some pieces that will compliment her new body, assure her that what the world sees, is now her reality and that she should be proud of all the hard work she has done.
Step #1
Simone filled out a Personal Style Evaluation

Step #2
We created a mantra "I am intelligent, curvy and vivacious"
* Simone is required to repeat this mantra 20x a day. This is an important step in her transformation as she has to believe what she is trying to portray. I explained to her that brain is a powerful tool and that one could force their brain to recreate their body. She seemed skeptical at first but after a day of repeating her mantra, she shared with me that she felt calmer, confident and vivacious.
